llms.txt checker
Check whether a site has an llms.txt file for AI assistants, and whether it follows the format.
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard: a short Markdown file at the root of a website (/llms.txt) that tells AI assistants what the site is about and which pages matter most. It’s optional and still emerging, but it takes minutes to add.
A valid file starts with the site name as a # heading, can include a one-line > summary, then lists the key pages as Markdown links, optionally grouped under ## sections. For example:
# example.com > One sentence about what the business does and who it’s for. ## Services - [Web design](https://example.com/services/web-design): what’s included and pricing - [SEO](https://example.com/services/seo): audits and ongoing work ## Company - [About](https://example.com/about) - [Contact](https://example.com/contact)
